Fairy Friends take off with Little Airplane

The Butterfly Fairy Friends is aimed at young girls

New York-based preschool outfit Little Airplane Productions is in development on an animated series created by Studio 100 founders Hans Bourlon and Gert Verhulst.

The Butterfly Fairy Friends (52×11’) is aimed at girls aged four to seven and aims to encourage an upbeat perspective on life while promoting problem-solving and collaborative skills.

The show is the first project Little Airplane has developed with parent company Studio 100 since the Belgian firm acquired it in December 2017.

It revolves around three friends who find three magical flowers that lead them to a trio of butterflies with magical powers.

Sharon Gomes, chief operating officer at Little Airplane, said the show’s central characters “are great role models for young girls,” adding that its “global message and gorgeous visuals” would attract interest worldwide.

Little Airplane, known for Wonder Pets, Small Potatoes and Super Wings, was founded by Josh Selig in 1999. The Butterfly Fairy Friends will be presented to broadcasters at kids’ event MIFA in June.
