Holger Roost-Macias, who set up Tresor in 1992 and has grown it into one of Germany’s leading prodcos, is stepping down at the end of July. He is pursuing a new opportunity in South America but will remain a partner in Tresor and continue to work with the firm.

Kühn, who set up Shine Germany in 2009 and was MD prior to Shine’s merger with Endemol and Core Media last year, will take over the reigns on August 1.

Kühn is a former programme director at local broadcaster RTL2 and previously spent five years as leader of business development and creative director at Tresor.

The indie is known for local versions of formats including Germany’s Next Top Model, Popstars, Survivor and Fashion Hero. It is currently working on music show The Band for ProSieben and a fourth season of children’s adventure series The Curse of the Falcon for BR and Kika.

Roost-Macias said: “It’s never easy to let go of your own baby and hand it over to a successor, but Axel and I have a lot in common. We share the same vision for programming, for innovation and teamwork.

“Under Axel’s leadership, I am convinced that Tresor will develop exactly the kind of dynamism that our customers have come to expect from a fast-moving firm in our ever more concentrated market.”
