Ex-Initial MD dives into Two Rivers

The former MD of Big Brother’s UK producer Initial has joined recently launched Scottish production outfit Two Rivers Media, which has been backed by Kew Media Group and UK pubcaster Channel 4.

Mirella Breda

Mirella Breda, who spent seven years as a commissioning editor of entertainment at the BBC before joining Initial, joins the fledgling outfit immediately as head of entertainment and will relocate to Glasgow in the autumn.

Two Rivers, which is aiming to produce for the Scottish, UK and international markets, was launched by MD Alan Clements and head of factual Mick McAvoy earlier this year. Clements left his role as MD at the production arm of Scottish broadcaster STV last year.

Breda said: “Sometimes an opportunity comes along at the right time, in the right place. I’m incredibly excited to be joining Two Rivers at the beginning of its story. I can’t wait to get started.”

Clements added: “I am delighted that a talented and experienced creative leader like Mirella is joining Two Rivers on its journey, and shares our vision of building a company of scale in Scotland. Her entertainment track record is absolutely second to none.”

Breda stepped down at Endemol Shine Group-backed Initial last year after two years in the role, with her remit split between creative director Cat Lynch and head of reality Katy Manley. She worked on shows including Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother and also launched Tenable for ITV.
