Esquire invited to Party

US cablenet Esquire Network continues to build its new slate of programming ahead of its rebrand from G4 next month.

Scripted comedy Party Down aired on Starz in 2009 and 2010 and followed a sextet of Hollywood wannabes trying make it big in LA. Both seasons will air on the Esquire Network, beginning next month.

Starz Worldwide Distribution retains select on-demand and online rights to the show during the license period.

Matt Monos, Esquire Network’s head of programming and acquisitions, said the series was “the perfect fit” for the channel due it “smart and irreverent brand of humour.”

This acquisition joins others (Parks & Recreation, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon) and follows the commission of two original series at the network.

How I Rock It (wt) is hosted by NBA player Baron Davies and features profiles of stylish celebrities, athletes and designers. It will be produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions and Citizen Jones.

The second, Risky Listing (wt) (6×60′), comes from Zodiak New York and investigates the real estate scene in the US city.

“We are building an exciting slate of original series for men with style and substance,” said Esquire Network head of original programming Matt Hanna.

The upcoming rebrand will expand G4’s current remit of games, gear and gadgets to reflect a wider range of male interests, including travel, fashion, food and women.
