Espresso raps its way to Cannes

Espresso Media International is taking two new observational documentaries to MipTV next week, including a music programme about the UK Battle Rap scene.

The UK-based distributor, which unveiled its new identity at Mipcom 2015 after 23 years in the industry as Espresso TV, is taking War of Words and Undercover Egypt to the Cannes market, which begins on Monday.

Shot over two years, War of Words (1×60’ HD) lifts the lid on the subculture of hip hop and explores the history and evolution of battle rapping from its humble roots in playgrounds through to freestyles in front of large audiences.

Meanwhile, Undercover Egypt (1×55’ HD) follows journalist Natasha Wheatley as she returns to the country to explore controversial topics including gender roles, politics and sexuality through the personal lives of Egyptians.
