Escapade reveals writers for Killing

A trio of writers from the UK and Australia have signed on to script Aussie prodco Escapade Media’s new psychological thriller, The Art of Killing.

UK writers Paul Duane and Rob Cawley as well as Australian scribe Sarah Smith have committed to the project, to be produced by Philip Bowman and Escapade Media.

The 6×60’ drama will be adapted from the Random House novel A Dark Place To Die by Ed Chatterton.

Duane and Cawley created Irish crime drama Amber, which achieved strong ratings on Irish pubcaster RTE and has since been sold to the broadcasters in the US, Australia, Canada and Scandinavia.

Meanwhile, Smith’s recent credits include the crime series Winter and telemovie The Killing for the 7 Network. She is currently writing a two-part mini-series about the life of Alan Bond for CJZ and the Nine Network

The Art of Killing is billed as “exploring the fraught nature of familial relationships and art and its expression, and paternal loss and forgiveness.”

Escapade Media is a newly-formed company based in Sydney specialising in film and TV financing, production and distribution.
