eOne’s PJ Masks caught on CCTV

PJ Masks has already been acquired by Chinese VoD services Tencent, iQiYi and Youku

Chinese state broadcaster CCTV has acquired the first season of preschool animated series PJ Masks from Canadian producer and distributor Entertainment One (eOne).

The leading free-to-air broadcaster in China will begin airing the 52×11′ series daily on children’s channel CCTV14 on March 21.

Previously, eOne has sold the show to Chinese VoD platforms Tencent, iQiYi and Youku.

Produced by eOne and eOne Family MD Oliver Dumont’s company Frog Box, in collaboration with Disney Junior and France 5, it follows the exploits of a group of young friends who transform into superheroes when they put on their pyjamas.

“Securing broadcast for PJ Masks on China’s leading children’s channel will boost viewership and awareness for the property significantly when it launches this month,” said eOne’s Monica Candiani, executive VP content sales, family and brands.

eOne said it has a calendar of nationwide PJ Masks events and activities planned to raise awareness around the brand in China, where its toy partner is toyco Alpha.
