eOne taps JP Morgan exec for M&A

Transatlantic distributor and producer Entertainment One (eOne) has appointed an executive from banking group JP Morgan to work across its M&A activities.

Clemens Dornemann

Clemens Dornemann has been named senior VP of corporate development and strategy and will be based in LA with a remit to develop growth strategies and new business development for eOne.

He will be responsible for executing deals and work with execs across the group to identify acquisition opportunities.

His remit includes acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, investments and other corporate prospects, across family and brands, music, film, television and digital media in both domestic and international markets.

Dornemann has worked in private equity and investment for more than a decade, most recently serving as executive director in the media and communications group at JP Morgan in New York.

Margaret O’Brien, eOne’s chief development and administrative officer, said Dornemann’s “insights and experience will be invaluable as we continue to build the leading talent-driven entertainment company in the world.”

Dornemann added: “eOne has a strong track record of acquiring and integrating businesses. I look forward to exploring opportunities to advance the company through M&A and other strategic growth initiatives.”

eOne has made a series of acquisitions over recent months, taking full control of The Mark Gordon Company in January and picking up a stake in UK-based unscripted producer Whizz Kid Entertainment in April.

It has also invested in Jeffrey Katzenberg’s forthcoming mobile streaming service NewTV, following a strategy unveiled in 2014 to double in size within five years.
