eOne ships Aussie dramedy to Canada

Lingo Pictures Australia’s Upright follows a pair of misfits across Australia

Canadian pay TV network Super Channel has picked up Australian dramedy series Upright from transatlantic producer and distributor Entertainment One (eOne).

The 8×30’ series follows two misfits as they travel across the Australian desert to deliver a piano from one end of the country to another, forging a friendship along the way.

Upright is produced by Lingo Pictures Australia for Foxtel and Sky UK and was co-written by Chris Taylor, Kate Mulvany and Leon Ford, alongside Australian comedian, actor and director Tim Minchin, who also stars in the series.

The series is produced by Lingo Picture’s Jason Stephens and executive produced by Minchin.

Upright is set to air in Canada on pay TV network Super Channel Fuse on January 19.

Noel Hedges, eOne’s executive VP of acquisitions, International Distribution, said: “Upright is an emotional, hilarious and unique series that we are proud to bring to Canadian audiences with our partners at Super Channel. Tim Minchin has created a layered and complex series that is finding critical and audience acclaim worldwide.”
