eOne preps Sons and Soldiers

Transatlantic producer Entertainment One (eOne) has optioned a book recounting true stories of a little-known group of German Jews who returned to the country with the US army to overthrow the Nazis.

eOne has picked up TV rights to Sons and Soldiers: The Untold Story of the Jews Who Escaped the Nazis and Returned with the US Army to Fight Hitler by Bruce Henderson.

The project will be penned by The Handmaid’s Tale scribe Eric Tuchman and directed by Training Day helmsman David Ayer.

Ayer will produce with Chris Long under their Cedar Park Entertainment label alongside US prodco Storyby Entertainment, both of which eOne has first look deals with. eOne will distribute the project internationally and is the studio partner in the production.

Drawing on original interviews and extensive archival research, Sons and Soldiers recreates the stories of six members of ‘The Ritchie Boys’ who escaped Nazi Germany in the 1930s, grew up in the US, and then returned to Europe to help the Allied nations fight Hitler. They did so knowing their lives were in heightened danger were they to be captured.
