eOne merges film, TV sales

Canada’s Entertainment One (eOne) is restructuring its international TV sales and distribution team in several key markets to expand the division’s reach.

The reorganisation will bring film and television content sales together under single leadership, with new positions set to be created and filled later this year.

Charlotte Thorp, head of TV sales and business development, will oversee all UK sales to broadcasters and new media, reporting to both Alex Hamilton, MD of eOne Films UK, and Stuart Baxter, who became president of Entertainment One Television International in May.

Joey Sabella, director of sales, will lead eOne’s US sales efforts, reporting to Larry Greenberg, senior VP of acquisitions for the company’s films in the US, and Baxter.

Audrey Gardiner will lead TV and film sales in Canada, reporting to Bryan Gliserman, president of eOne Films Canada and Baxter.

The revamp is designed to expand eOne’s sales team in core markets and provide a single point of contact. eOne Television International is also extending its European market presence with as-yet undefined resources for Spain, Benelux and France.

Baxter said the changes were part of eOne’s plans to combine “our strengths in film and TV to better coordinate and support all of our clients.”

In related news, Graham Spencer has joined eOne Television International as sales director to cover Tess Charman’s maternity leave and to manage sales in Central Europe, Africa, Middle East and Russia.

eOne acquired fellow Canuck producer Force Four Entertainment, the Vancouver-based prodco behind Border Security and Seed, in August and factual specialist Paperny Entertainment in July.

The firm also splashed out US$24.8m on Phase 4 Films in June to bolster its digital ambitions, following Baxter’s arrival in May.

Earlier this year eOne moved into factual programming by signing a first-look agreement with Jonathan Drake’s Three River Studios in January and also unveiled a US$400m war chest to invest in new programming.
