eOne inks Three River deal

Jonathan Drake’s newly formed prodco Three River Studios has struck a first-look deal with Entertainment One (eOne) as the international producer-distributor looks to increase its factual business in the UK.

The deal means eOne will have first refusal on projects and shows from the UK prodco and handle rights for Three River’s upcoming factual programming on a worldwide basis.

Three River was set up by former Impossible Pictures exec Drake after he bought out Impossible’s factual unit in 2013.

Peter Emerson, president of eOne Television International, said: “There is a huge amount of interest and opportunity in the factual space and Jonathan brings an unmatched level of expertise. Together, we’ll be well-positioned to exploit high-end factual content for the international market.”

Drake added: “Entertainment One has a tremendous infrastructure with a rapidly growing factual division and they share with us a commitment to creating top-quality programming.”

eOne already has a host of factual and reality shows on air in the US, including Mary, Mary and Sisters with Voices on WEtv, OWN’s Knight Life with Gladys and Our Family Vacation on Travel+Escape and Compete to Eat on Cottage Life Channel.
