Endemol’s MasterChef returns to India

The Australian version of MasterChef

Indian entertainment channel Star Plus has revived the local version of Endemol Shine Group culinary competition series MasterChef.

The series is returning to India after a three-year hiatus, with Endemol Shine India set to produce a 26×60’ run for Star Plus as well as 12 episodes of spin-off MasterClass later this year.

The judging line-up for MasterChef India features some of the country’s finest chefs, including Michelin star winner Vikas Khanna; Ranveer Brar, whose passion for food made him the country’s youngest executive chef; and India’s first Michelin starred-chef, Vineet Bhatia, known for restaurants including Zaika and Rasoi.

MasterChef currently has 53 productions across 35 markets, making 2019 its most successful year to date. Its US version recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Recent and forthcoming Endemol Shine India shows include Bombay Begums, a new Hindi-language drama for Netflix, and Big Boss, which is produced in six different regional languages annually.

In addition to MasterChef, Endemol Shine Group’s cooking format portfolio includes Ready Steady Cook, which has just been recommissioned by BBC1 in the UK following a 10-year hiatus. It is joined by additional formats Family Food Fight, which has been sold into nine markets, and Kitchen Impossible, which has been sold into the Netherlands and is being piloted in France.
