Endemol Shine tells Menudo’s story

Subete a Mi Moto – The History of Menudo

MIPCOM: Endemol Shine Latino has teamed up with three Hispanic partners on a drama coproduction centring on one of the biggest ever Latino boy bands.

Currently in production, Subete a Mi Moto – The History of Menudo is a collaboration between US-based Somos Productions, Mexico’s Boomdog, Puerto Rico’s Piñolywood Studios and Endemol Shine Latino.

The series will chart the origins of the Puerto Rican band Menudo and their sudden rise to fame. Menudo released their first album in 1977, before finding global success in the 1980s and eventually disbanding in 2009.

“There are musical phenomena that become well-known landmarks because of their impact both with their songs and stage presence, as well as for the richness of their personal experiences,” said Luis Villanueva, president and CEO of Somos Productions. ”Menudo is one such phenomenon and their history guarantees the excitement and appeal of this series.”

Somos Distribution and Endemol Shine Latino are now in discussion with potential networks and platforms over distribution of the series.

Endemol Shine Latino and Boomdog are established coproductions partners on shows such as scripted series El Vato for Universo and MasterChef Mexico for TV Azteca. They are currently also developing drama series El Ganador, about musician Nicky Jam, for US Hispanic network Telemundo.
