Endemol Shine strikes Deal in Brazil

The US version of Deal or No Deal

Brazilian broadcaster SBT has ordered a local version of Endemol Shine Group (ESG) gameshow format Deal or No Deal.

The show, which last aired in Brazil in 2011, is being produced by Endemol Shine Brazil and sees players opening 26 sealed briefcases full of varying amounts of cash.

Contestants are faced with a game of odds and chance, and must decide whether to accept an offer of cash from the mysterious Banker in exchange for what might be contained in the contestant’s chosen briefcase.

Earlier this year US business network CNBC greenlit a reboot of the format presented by Howie Mandel, who hosted the first American version prior to it being axed almost a decade ago.

Lisa Perrin, CEO of Creative Networks at ESG, said: “There is a real resurgence in gameshow formats and Deal or No Deal is one of our original travelling formats that has captivated audiences globally.”

Headed by Juliana Algañaraz, Endemol Shine Brazil produces local versions of formats such as MasterChef and The Wall.
