Endemol Shine rejigs in Nordics

Endemol Shine Group (ESG) has restructured its Nordic operations with three high-ranking Endemol executives – including the chief of Endemol Nordics – set to leave the production and distribution giant.

Endemol Nordics will be closed down, with CEO Michael Porseryd leaving the company and his role being discontinued. Endemol Norway, Endemol Denmark and Endemol Finland will then be withdrawn as labels and merged into existing Shine Nordics production companies, alongside Endemol Sweden.

Bertil Rosenlund becomes interim MD at Endemol Sweden, while retaining her chief financial officer role at Endemol Shine Group International.

The restructure means Rikke Nissen, Endemol Denmark’s MD, and Eric Linschooten, MD at Endemol Norway, will also leave the company after a handover period, while discussions about the future of other staff at the companies are underway.

The newly formed Endemol Shine Nordics division will incorporate prodcos including Meter Television, STO-CPH Produktion, Filmlance International, Friday TV, Mag5 Content, Rubicon TV, Metronome Spartacus, Metronome Productions, Endemol Sweden and Shine Finland.

Gary Carter, Endemol Shine Group International co-CEO and previously chairman of Shine Nordics, will oversee Endemol Shine Nordics’ operations, with the MDs of all other production companies remaining unchanged.

Endemol Shine’s partnership with Heartland, the Denmark-based factual label founded by Merete Mortensen in 2014, continues unchanged.

“The integration of Endemol and Shine companies in the Nordics reinforces a market-leading position for the new group,” said Carter.

“Given the Metronome Group’s history as part of the Endemol group in the early 2000s, prior to the acquisition by Shine Group, this is something of a reunion. Both groups have a proven track record of creating compelling shows that resonate and travel around the world.”

ESG was formed late last year after a merger between Endemol, Shine and Core Media, with the firm’s wider structure revealed in December.

The portfolio of shows within the Endemol Shine Nordics group includes Big Brother, Bron/Broen (The Bridge), Biggest Loser and Lilyhammer, with the prodco set to be the largest in the region.
