Endemol Shine claims Beat Shazam

Endemol Shine Group has agreed an exclusive distribution deal to take Beat Shazam, the musical gameshow from US network Fox, to the international market.

Endemol Shine will be the exclusive distributor of the format across all platforms outside the US and will produce local versions of the show, while its sales arm Endemol Shine International will also sell the finished Fox show.

The US series, which has been extended into a second season since launching in May, is hosted and executive produced by actor and musician Jamie Foxx. It is executive produced by Survivor’s Mark Burnett and Don’t Forget the Lyrics!’s Jeff Apploff.

The format, which will be among Endemol Shine’s slate highlights at Mipcom next week, sees teams attempting to identify hit songs before music app Shazam. It was created by Apploff and Wes Kauble and is produced by Apploff Entertainment and MGM Television in association with Shazam.

Lisa Perrin, CEO of Creative Networks at Endemol Shine, said the show’s “unique mix of music, quizzing and a big cash prize” gave it broad audience appeal.
