Endemol Shine Boomdog hires showrunner

The Spanish-language production unit set up in Mexico by Endemol Shine North America and local prodco Boomdog has hired an experienced showrunner as its VP of production.

Jose Lascurain Farell

Jose Lascurain Farell is joining the firm and will be based in LA, having previously had a stint as director of production and development for Endemol Shine Latino from 2012 to 2014, working on unscripted series in both Mexico and the US.

Lascurain, a two-time International Emmy-nominated producer, has an extensive TV production background, most recently serving as senior executive producer of current programming and specials at US Hispanic broadcast group Univision. There he oversaw telenovelas and specials for both Televisa in Mexico and Univision in the US.

Prior to joining Univision, Lascurain was VP of production for Fremantle Latin America. With Fremantle, he supervised all production activities in Mexico and the US, including for such series as La Banda and I Can Do That.

He also previously held production roles at Televisa, Blindspot Pictures, El Mall, Mediamates and Endemol Mexico.

The announcement was made today by Endemol Shine Boomdog CEO Alejandro Rincon. The company was formed last year when Endemol Shine North America merged its Spanish-language division, Endemol Shine Latino, with Mexico City-based prodco Boomdog.

The newly combined studio, which has offices and production facilities in Mexico City, LA and Miami, is focused on developing and producing scripted and unscripted content for the US Hispanic and Mexican TV markets.

The firm already produces MasterChef Mexico for TV Azteca, Mira Quién Baila for Univision and Chumel con Chumel Torres for HBO, among others.
