Endemol Shine Boomdog hires for scripted

The Spanish-language production unit set up in Mexico by Endemol Shine North America and local prodco Boomdog has appointed an experienced TV and film producer to lead its drama efforts.

Leonardo Zimbron has been appointed head of scripted programming at the joint venture, which launched in November last year.

Zimbron’s credits include some of the top performing films in Mexico’s history, as well as numerous television series including Netflix’s first original production in Mexico, Club de Cuervos, which was recently renewed for a fourth season.

He was most recently a founding partner in Traziende Films. In 2005, Zimbron launched ​​Warner Bros. Pictures’ local production operations in Mexico.

In 2013, Zimbron released the movie, Nosotros los Nobles, Gary Alazraki’s debut film, breaking the Mexican box office record and becoming the top film of all time on all platforms in Mexico.

Endemol Shine Boomdog was formed last year when Endemol Shine North America merged its Spanish-language division, Endemol Shine Latino, with Mexico City-based production company Boomdog.

The newly combined studio, which has offices and production facilities in Mexico City and Miami, is focused on developing and producing scripted and unscripted content for the US Hispanic and Mexican TV markets.

Endemol Shine Boomdog now produces many of the top series in the region, including MasterChef Mexico for TV Azteca, Mira Quién Baila for Univision and Chumel con Chumel Torres for HBO.

It is also working drama series Nicky Jam: El Ganador for Telemundo and Netflix.

The announcement was made by Endemol Shine Boomdog CEO Alejandro Rincon.
