Endemol entertains Norwegian format

Endemol has picked up rights to a Norwegian shiny floor entertainment format that combines dance, singing and music in the search for The Ultimate Entertainer.

Stjernekamp, which airs on NRK1 on Saturday nights in the fall, brings together 10 top artists who compete against each other across different genres of music and dance to be the last one standing. It will be sold internationally under the title The Ultimate Entertainer.

The format was created by Vibeke Sørlie and developed by Sørlie, NRK and formats prodco Monster, which is part of the Nice Group.

NRK said this was the first time a Norwegian Saturday night entertainment format had been picked up for international distribution.

Petter Wallace, head of external productions for NRK, added that its priority as a public broadcaster was to generate local formats, and also to create formats that have strong international potential.
