Emmerson partners on hate groups series

Ex-Warner Bros UK executive Nick Emmerson is developing a documentary series with a former neo-Nazi who is now a human rights activist.

Emmerson, the creator of Supernanny who was also previously president of Shed Media US and CEO of Ricochet, has linked up with TM Garret to create the series, which is set to go into production this year.

The show will follow German-American Garret’s not-for-profit work with former members of hate groups and gangs and will be targeted at the US and international TV and SVoD markets.

The series will also look at Garret’s work with groups such as The Simon Wiesenthal Center, the Jewish human rights organisation, as he seeks to fulfil his mission to erase hate in communities across the US.

“There’s never been a better time to tell the remarkable stories of former extremists and gang members who have decided to turn their lives around,” said Emmerson, who set up his own prodco, Koska, in 2017 with backing from ITV Studios.

“I look forward to working with Nick and producing impactful television content that could literally change people’s lives,” added Garret, who is the founder of Memphis-based organisation CHANGE.

Garret is also the founder and organiser of the annual Memphis Peace Conference, which includes an interfaith community panel and was first held last year.
