Eleven names new Taiwan MD

Multinational sports channel operator Eleven has appointed Michael Sun as its new MD for Taiwan to replace Simone Kang, who left the company last July.

Sun joins Eleven from sports group SlamBall Asia, where as chairman and CEO he was responsible for driving the growth of the challenger sport across Asia.

Over his 30-year career, he has held senior roles in sports, media, investment and technology with China Trust Group, IMG and others.

Eleven launched in Taiwan in 2016, offering viewers the chance to watch local sports such as the Chinese Professional Baseball League and the Top Volleyball League, as well as international sports like the English Premier League and the NBA.

Over the Christmas break, Eleven extended its distribution network in Taiwan so that its two sports channels, Eleven 1 and Eleven 2, are now available via major cable operators including Kbro Co, Taiwan Broadband, China Network System and Taiwan Optical Platform.

This comes after Fox Sports departed the Taiwanese market at the end of 2020, making Eleven the widest-reaching sports platform in Taiwan.

Eleven CEO Luis Vicente said: “Michael Sun brings with him a huge amount of experience in content creation and events, a deep passion for sport and a long track record of innovation.

“He will help us to build on the excellent work done so far in Taiwan and to fulfil our group-wide ambition of democratising access to the best live sport content for fans around the world.”
