Electus, DumbDumb air Dirty Shorts

Ben Silverman’s multimedia start-up Electus has unveiled the first fruit from its partnership with New York prodco DumbDumb – a branded comedy for chewing gum brand Wrigley’s Orbit.

DumbDumb, headed by Arrested Development duo Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, has produced three shortform digital comedy videos for Orbit, named Dirty Shorts. The clips have been added to a branded Orbit page on YouTube, and a full series is coming later this month.

Bateman and Arnett created, directed and executive produced the clips, with Orbit as coproducer. Wrigley’s creative agency EBBO also provided support. The first short – called Prom Date – takes a humorous look at the world of teacher/pupil dating.

Electus, which is backed by InterActiveCorp (IAC), has first-look rights to distribute all DumbDumb content – including TV, digital and film – internationally. It has also signed a production agreement with Yahoo! to supply branded content for the site.

Silverman launched the start-up last year with IAC’s Barry Diller, after leaving his role as co-chairman of NBC Entertainment. Bateman and Arnett set-up DumbDumb earlier this year, after the former left his talent agency UTA.
