Electric targets surge in podcasts

LA-based producer and distributor Electric Entertainment has launched a podcast brand and is preparing to make video versions of its podcasts available on forthcoming linear OTT channel ElectricNow.

The new podcast brand, Electric Surge, will feature existing podcasts including Inglorious Treksperts, Best Movies Never Made and Disco Nights, which are set to be joined by Best TV Never Made and podcasts devoted to Doctor Who.

ElectricNow, announced last month, will feature video versions of various Electric Surge podcasts as they are filmed in the studio, alongside series produced by Electric Entertainment. The latter include sci-fi drama The Outpost, which was recently greenlit for a third season by The CW.

The ad-supported Electric Now service will run on digital platforms, including Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Stirr, XUMO and Distro TV.

The Electric Surge podcasts are produced and curated by Mark A Altman’s LA-based production and publishing company Radioactive Fishtank alongside Electric Entertainment, which is led by CEO Dean Devlin.

The producers are by Bill Ritter, Natalie Masciale and Cynthia Jean Hajj, while Altman, Devlin, Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson serve as executive producers.
