Elastic stretches to Iberian deals for Caillou

Spanish brand management firm Elastic Rights has signed broadcast and licensing deals for Cookie Jar’s animated preschool series Caillou.

A Spanish pay-TV agreement for 66 episodes has been signed with Boomerang, with the show (left) debuting on Boomerang’s preschool block from September 2006. State broadcaster TVE is airing the first run of all episodes Monday to Friday in its primetime children’s slot at 09.00.

In addition, Elastic Rights has set up a DVD deal with Portuguese media company Lusomundo for home entertainment rights to the series. Caillou already airs on state broadcaster RTP2 in Portugal, where it is on its sixth run. Other deals include one for toys with Majora and one for apparel with Jacinto.

John Gildea, senior VP of consumer products at Cookie Jar Entertainment, said: “Elastic Rights is helping transform this beloved preschool property into a major franchise as a result of its forging successful partnerships with top entertainment, media and consumer products companies. We are delighted with the impressive efforts of Elastic Rights and look forward to a continued expansion of Caillou in Iberia.”

Elastic Rights handles all rights for Caillou in Spain and all rights, excluding TV, in Portugal.
