The deal will see eOne handling international rights to El Rey’s slate of original scripted programming and was announced by John Morayniss, CEO of eOne Television, and Scott Sassa, vice chair of El Rey.

The first project under the deal is the upcoming series Matador, a scripted thriller from K/O Paper Products. The hour-long drama is scheduled to debut this summer on the English-language US network.

As part of the alliance, eOne will also handle the DVD and EST rights in the US and Canada for El Rey’s supernatural crime saga From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, set to premiere March 11.

“With its penchant for working with highly talented, renowned creative partners, El Rey is poised to swiftly become one of the top destinations on television,” said Morayniss.

The move comes soon after eOne sealed a global distribution alliance with AMC Networks to exclusively distribute AMC and Sundance Channel’s original scripted series internationally.

Launched in December 2013 by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and FactoryMade Ventures, El Rey targets men aged 18-49 and millennials. Univision Communications has a minority stake in El Rey.
