Eccho staffs up in Scandinavia

Stockholm-based distributor Eccho Rights has hired a sales and acquisitions executive for Scandinavia from coproduction group Film Capital Stockholm.

Lisa Widén is joining the firm, which was bought by South Korea’s CJ ENM late last year, to work on the development of Scandi drama that can form part of Eccho’s scripted catalogue.

At Film Capital Stockholm, Widén was head of production and worked on the development and financing of more than 50 film and television projects.

Her recent coproducer credits include Sthlm Rekviem for Nordic streamer C More, Jordskott for Swedish pubcaster SVT, and Before We Die, a coproduction between SVT and Germany’s ZDF.

In her new role, Widén will continue to work closely on the development of Scandinavian drama series, which have become an increasingly important part of Eccho Rights’ offering.

In the past two years, Eccho Rights has represented Scandi series such as Honour, Conspiracy of Silence and Invisible Heroes.

As well as handling development projects with local producers, Widén will also take charge of Eccho Rights’ sales efforts on the Scandinavian market.

In recent years, Eccho Rights has brought four Turkish Drama series to public broadcaster SVT, which became the first channel in Western Europe to acquire a Turkish series.
