Eccho forges Korean deal

Scandinavian distributor Eccho Rights has signed an exclusive distribution deal for three Korean drama formats from CJ E&M.

Eccho has taken rights to Tears of Heaven and A Bird That Doesn’t Sing as well as Memory, a 16-part series that sees a man coming to terms with his sudden diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease.

The deal will see Eccho sell the Korean producer’s additional scripts across Europe and the Middle East.

Eccho has sold CJ formats Ice Adonis and Who Are You to territories worldwide over the past two years.

“We believe Eccho Rights can maximise the potential of these in the territories covered they way they did for Ice Adonis,” says Jangho Seo, head of international sales and acquisitions at CJ E&M.

The news follows last week’s collaboration between CJ E&M and Endemol Shine Group on the first joint South Korean format to come out of their coproduction partnership.
