Dutch network falls for SPT’s Beauty Queen

The local version of Beauty Queen & Single will air on NPO3/KRO NCRV

A Dutch broadcaster has commissioned a local version of Sony Pictures Television (SPT)-backed UK prodco Stellify Media’s dating format Beauty Queen & Single.

NPO3/KRO NCRV in the Netherlands has commissioned a 6×40′ series, which will be known locally as Pretty & Single and will debut on April 30.

The format, distributed by SPT, made its debut on the BBC in Northern Ireland and the show has received more than one million hits on the UK pubcaster’s iPlayer service.

The Dutch series will focus on six single “beautiful and smart professionals” who never go out without their make-up, but who, with the goal of finally finding true love, will strip off their make-up and venture into the world of dating.

Vincent TV, who also produces the Dutch version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, another Stellify format, will produce the series.

The series has also been optioned in Finland by Aito Media, which is currently producing The Dating Game, known widely as Blind Date, and You Are What You Eat.

Stellify Media was formed in 2014 as a joint venture between SPT and TV executives Kieran Doherty and Matt Worthy. The Belfast-based firm is behind the first UK original format commission from Netflix, with its gameshow Flinch.
