Dutch FilmWorks starts global sales arm

Docuseries The Art Dispute is among the titles being shopped by DWF International

Netherlands-based distributor Dutch FilmWorks (DFW) is launching an international sales arm focusing on drama series, feature films, documentaries and kids’ programming.

DFW International will sell television and film productions from across the Benelux region around the world.

The new operation is spearheaded by Angela Pruijssers, VP of international sales and distribution. Also forming part of the sales team is Charlotte Henskens, director of international sales, who recently arrived from Fortissimo Films.

The move reaffirms DFW’s commitment to developing local content. It has previously been a coproducer and financer of titles such as The Resistance Banker and Undercover, the first Dutch-language series exclusively available on Netflix worldwide.

DFW International will make its debut at Mipcom in Cannes next month with a selection of titles such as crime drama Women of the Night (10×45’), a Dutch series set in the world of high-class escorts and crime.

Also slated is Stanley (4×50’), based on the life of one of the most infamous criminals in the Netherlands, Stanley Hillis, who went from bank robber to drug lord and multiple prison escapee.

The Art Dispute (8×50’), a docuseries examining the topical issue surrounding stolen art and artefacts, questioning ownership and historical legacy, and kids’ animation The Daily Fable (4×25’), which follows the hilarious adventures of a motley crew of feathered and furry animal inhabitants who live in Fableland, are also included.

DFW CEO Willem Pruijssers said: “The launch of DFW International marks an integral part of our growt, and we are fully committed to all of these productions, creating strong partnerships with producers and creatives alike in order to showcase the high-quality programming coming out of Benelux.

“With the entertainment industry constantly changing and diversifying at such a fast pace, it’s important for indies to continue evolving, and we are delighted to launch this new sales operation.
