Drive bags factual trio

Auschwitz Untold: In Colour

UK-based distributor Drive has bagged the sales rights to two history docuseries, Lost Home Movies of Nazi Germany and Auschwitz Untold: In Colour.

Lost Home Movies of Nazi Germany (2×60’) delves into the private collections of members of Hitler’s Third Reich to reveal how ordinary Germans, both civilian and military, recorded the dawn of an empire that they thought would last a thousand years.

The title was produced by Bright Button Productions for the BBC.

The second title, Auschwitz Untold: In Colour (2×60’) reveals scenes from the infamous Nazi death camps.

The series features new testimonies and exclusively colourised footage spanning the Nazi era. Holocaust survivors reveal their heart-breaking recollections of life under Nazi control, including inspiring stories of survival and defiance against all odds.

The series was produced by UK indie Fulwell73 and was originally broadcast on Channel 4.

Drive will distribute both series globally.

Drive is also set to coproduce the documentary Shackleton (working title) alongside UK prodco Make Waves Media. The project will mark the centenary of Irish explorer Ernest Shackleton’s death and will feature archive materials of the explorer’s expeditions, which will also be colourised for the very first time. Drive will be raising production finance from the UK and the international market on the project.

The project is being developed in partnership with The British Film Institute and the Royal Geographical Society. It is set to air in 2022.
