DRG’s Don’t Tell the Bride travels world

Don’t Tell the Bride sees grooms planning their weddings in secret

DRG has licensed the latest season of UK series Don’t Tell the Bride to networks in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Africa.

The Modern Times Group-owned distributor has confirmed deals with BBC Worldwide in Africa and Poland, as well as Discovery Networks for its channels in Italy, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Other broadcasters taking the 11th season of the show include Foxtel (Australia), RTL (Germany), Medialaan (Belgium), ITV (Asia and Middle East), Sanoma Media/Nelonen Media (Finland), HRT (Croatia), Telecom Media 360 (Latvia) and Digicast (pay window in Italy).

The British version of Don’t Tell the Bride, produced by Warner Bros-owned Renegade Pictures, recently moved from Sky1 to Channel 4’s sister network E4. The programme began airing on BBC3 in 2007 and has since been remade in 17 countries.

“The format is simple and perfect for tailoring locally as every country and culture has its own traditions and views of what makes a great wedding,” said Elin Thomas, DRG’s executive VP of sales.

Each episode of the show follows a groom who must plan his own wedding without having any contact with his bride for the duration of the process.

DRG has also announced it will be representing the forthcoming 12th season of the show. Season 11, which comprises 18 one-hour episodes, is due to air on E4 later this week. The original UK version has been sold to more than 200 territories, according to DRG.
