DRG wins My Grandparent’s War from C4

Kristin Scott Thomas has completed her episode of My Grandparents’ War

UK-based distributor DRG, owned by Sweden’s NENT Group, has bought the international sales rights to UK pubcaster Channel 4’s forthcoming series My Grandparents’ War.

Produced for Channel 4 by Wild Pictures, each episode of the show follows a high-profile actor as they retrace the footsteps of their grandparents during the Second World War.

Commissioned to mark the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the conflict, two actors – Kristin Scott Thomas (The English Patient) and Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies, The BFG) – have already filmed their stories, which took them to locations including the beaches of Dunkirk and prisoner of war camps in Asia.

My Grandparents’ War will be broadcast on Channel 4 later this year.

Mette Kanne-Behrendsen, DRG’s senior VP of acquisitions, said: “With My Grandparents’ War, Wild Pictures has brilliantly combined key moments in history with a fresh and compelling biographical insight into some of the world’s leading actors.

“Such a unique and considered approach to this global event, coupled with the 80th anniversary in September, is sure to make this extraordinary series a ‘must have’ title for any broadcaster or platform looking to commemorate the start of World War Two.”
