DRG picks up royal marriage doc

Modern Times Group’s UK-based distributor DRG has picked up worldwide rights to a one-off doc about the relationship between Queen Elizabeth and her husband.

Prince Philip: The Plot to Make a King is produced by UK indie Blakeway and debuted on Channel 4 at the end of July, claiming overnight ratings of two million.

The show reveals the tensions resulting from the Queen’s marriage to Prince Philip, exploring his background and the pair’s relationship.

It joins DRG’s other factual programming including one-off royal doc duo Prince Harry at 30 and Prince George at One from ITN Productions, as well as Queen Victoria and the Crippled Kaiser from Double Band Films.
