DRG calls Ambulance prodco BBP

Modern Times Group-backed distributor DRG has signed an exclusive first-look deal with the prodco behind UK fixed-rig documentary series Inside the Ambulance (10×60′).

Inside the Ambulance airs on UKTV channel W

The two-year agreement will see DRG pick up distribution rights to all future Brown Bob Productions (BBP) content.

BBP, which was founded in 2013 by Jacqueline Hewer and Nicki Gottlieb, has produced titles including Inside the Ambulance for UKTV-owned W and Paul Merton’s Secret Stations (3×60′) for Channel 4.

DRG already distributes Inside the Ambulance, which uses GoPro cameras mounted inside vehicles to give an insight into the work of first-response emergency workers in the UK.

Katy Cundall, senior VP acquisitions at DRG, struck the deal with BBP and said the company “is particularly adept at creating volume series that engage primetime audiences.”

“We are now confidant that with DRG’s financial and creative backing, as well as its extensive knowledge of the international TV market, Brown Bob will quickly go from strength to strength, delivering broad-based factual content and formats that will succeed in the UK, as well as with broadcasters overseas,” said Nicki Gottlieb, BBP’s MD.
