Double deal for Sesame Workshop

MIPCOM NEWS – After deals with Sesame Workshop, the UK's ITV1 has greenlit the 65×5' pre-school series Tiny Planets, with Germany's Super RTL also taking the show.

ITV1 will premier the series on CiTV in early 2002. Super RTL has also licensed Tiny Planets for online and merchandising rights for its market. The series will be a part of the Toggolino branded block when it debuts in Q1 of 2002.

Co-produced by Sesame Workshop and the show's creator Pepper’s Ghost Productions, the toon is targeted at kids 3-6. It follows a pair of fluffy aliens who bounce around the universe on a sofa.

Renee Mascara, Sesame Workshop’s associate vice president of international TV distribution, scored the deals. Tiny Planets has hitherto been pre-sold into Italy, Australia, Canada, pan-Latin, Mexico, Korea, Malaysia, Israel and Iceland.
