Dori takes NTV’s Shepherd abroad

MIPTV: Israel’s Dori Media Group (DMG) has picked up international distribution rights to NTV Russia’s crime procedural Shepherd.

The agreement is DMG’s second such drama pickup, following a deal in 2017 to distribute NTV’s adaptation of The Road to Calvary. That drama has since sold to Netflix, ERT Greece and pay-per-view services in Thailand.

Shepherd follows an ex-cop with a troubled private life who starts a private investigation bureau together with a German Shepherd dog he saved from being shot.

In Russia, the series has been a primetime audience puller for three seasons, as well as attracting up to 100 million views online, according to Timur Weinstein, NTV’s general producer.

This latest deal with Dori Media comes on the back of NTV’s recent distribution agreement with Keshet International (KI) for three of its dramas, The Crow (12×50’), Schubert (10×55′) and Beyond Death (16×50′).

Last year NTV acquired the right to adapt KI’s drama False Flag, its version of which is currently in production.
