Doctors vs Internet prescribed in Europe

Doctors vs Internet first aired on Norwegian pubcaster NRK

Broadcasters in Switzerland and Georgia have ordered local versions of NRK gameshow Doctors vs Internet from UK-based distributor and formats specialist Magnify Media.

SRF in Switzerland and Imedi TV in Georgia will both air local adaptations of the Norwegian format, which has already been remade in Denmark and the Netherlands.

The Georgian version will be produced in-house by Imedi TV, with a 16×60′ first season on the way. Details of the Swiss edition have yet to be confirmed.

Doctors vs Internet is based on society’s obsession with self-diagnosis via the internet. The format pits a team of doctors against members of the public, armed with laptops, to see who can most accurately diagnose real-life medical cases.

It is currently in its fourth season on Norwegian pubcaster NRK, with a fifth already commissioned. The Dutch version was produced by Sputnik Media and aired on Dutch public broadcaster NPO1, while the Danish version is made by Banijay-owned Mastiff TV for TV2.

In addition, the format has been optioned in the US, the UK, Germany, France, Australia, English- and French-speaking Canada, Sweden, Belgium, Poland and Russia.
