Docma retrains Rescue Dog for Sat.1

Rescue Dog to Super Dog originally aired on Channel 4 in the UK

Sat.1 in Germany has picked up the format rights to Rescue Dog to Super Dog from UK rights-management and distribution outfit Magnify Media.

German prodco Docma TV has produced a local version of the 4×60’ series, created by UK indie Plimsoll Productions, which will premiere this weekend on ProSiebenSat.1-owned Sat.1.

Under the translated title Project Super Dog – Helper On Four Paws, the show follows rescue dogs as they are trained intensively to assist eight people with a wide range of disabilities.

The deal with Sat.1 marks the third international version of the format, after it was adapted by Belgian pubcaster RTBF and Discovery’s Animal Planet in the US.

In related news, Magnify Media has picked up the global representation rights to the finished 6×60’ US series.

The show originally aired on Channel 4 in the UK and the format has been optioned by Monster Entertainment for Norway, DLO for Spain and Portugal, Endemol Shine for France and Blink TV in Australia.
