Distraction inks format, tape deals

Canadian format broker Distraction has announced a raft of sales in the run-up to MipTV, including deals in Holland, the Middle East and Poland.

Talk of the Town, a France2 format which Distraction reps on behalf of producer Ardisson & Lumieres, has secured a deal in the Middle East via a presale to Periscoop. It is described as a “scurrilous talkshow phenomenon.”

Italian format TV Diaries is a Magnolia TV property in which players receive two minutes of airtime in the form of their own TV diary entry, filmed in their own home. It has also been signed to an unnamed partner in the Middle East.

Kenny Vs Spenny, the format that revolves around the rivalry between two life-long friends, has secured a clutch of new deals in the run-up to Mip in France, Poland and with BNN in the Netherlands. Elsewhere, Brainpool’s comedy shows Old & Crazy and Rent a Host have been sold into Latvia and Poland, respectively.

Last week, C21reported that RTI Mediaset’s Ciao Darwin had been sold by Distraction to NTV in Russia. It has also been renewed for further series on TVN Poland and Antena 1 in Romania.

Finished tape is also selling for Distraction. Chic TV’s Sexy Cam, a TQS show that involves confronting members of the public with various cheeky situations, has been sold to Spanish broadcaster ETB; and Amazing Baby Bloopers, the cute baby video library show, has been signed in Poland.
