Disney taps Duplass bros for YouTube show

The Disney Channel has brought in brothers Mark and Jay Duplass to produce its first series made exclusively for YouTube.

Shook is a shortform single-camera series focusing on Mia, a 15-year-old who yearns to become a professional dancer but family obligations keep getting in the way. Disney star Sofia Wylie will play Mia.

The Duplass brothers will serve as exec producers through their company DBP Donut. Jonathan Hurwitz wrote the series while Hannah Peterson is the director.

Shook will debut on Disney Channel’s YouTube channel, which has clocked up three million subscribers and 1.4 billion views, on September 28.
