Disney rebrands TV studio divisions

ABC Studios and subsidiary ABC Signature will merge into one studio in the US as part of parent company Disney Television Studios’ rebranding activities.

The merger will result in one studio, named ABC Signature, led by president Jonnie Davis.

The rebrand, overseen by Disney Television Studios president Craig Hunegs, will also see Fox 21 Television Studios renamed Touchstone Television and 20th Century Fox Television become 20th Television.

It comes nearly 18 months after the Mouse House’s mega-deal for multiple key 21st Century Fox assets, which led to the formation of Disney Television Studios.

Hunegs said: “Our new studio names and logos mark a new day for ABC Signature, 20th Television and Touchstone Television while honouring their rich histories and the creative power of The Walt Disney Company.”

Disney Television Studios currently produces more than 60 series across 16 broadcast, cable, digital and international platforms.

These include Grey’s Anatomy (ABC), This Is Us (NBC), 9-1-1 (Fox), American Horror Story (FX), Queen of the South (USA) and Little Fires Everywhere (Hulu).

Forthcoming shows include Big Sky and Call Your Mother for ABC; Genius: Aretha for National Geographic; Woke, Books of Blood, Dopesick, Mysterious Benedict Society and Only Murders in the Building for Hulu; Big Shots, Mighty Ducks, Turner & Hooch and Just Beyond for Disney+; and Hoops and Ratched for Netflix.
