Disney, Cedars Art prep Arabic Golden Girls

The Golden Girls ran for seven seasons on NBC from 1985 to 1992

The Walt Disney Co and Middle East-based prodco Cedars Art Production (Sabbah Brothers) are teaming up for an Arabic adaptation of ABC Studios’ The Golden Girls.

Created by ABC Studios for NBC in the US, The Golden Girls is a sitcom about four older women who share a home in Miami, Florida. The series ran for seven seasons from 1985 to 1992.

The Arabic adaptation, titled Nissa’ Menn Thahab, will have 30 episodes in its first season, which will premiere during Ramadan in April/May this year.

Nadia Al-Gendy, Nabila Obaid, Samiha Ayoub and Hala Fakher will star, while each episode will also feature a guest star. Egyptian director Wael Ehsan will direct the series from a screenplay by Amin Gamal.
