Disney+ builds Lego Star Wars special

The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special will debut in November

Disney+ will premiere a Lego Star Wars holiday special later this year, set after the events of recent live-action blockbuster Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special will launch exclusively on Disney’s recently launched direct-to-consumer platform on November 17 and is a production of Atomic Cartoons, the Lego Group and Lucasfilm.

The first Lego special to debut on Disney+, the release continues the collaboration between Lucasfilm and Lego, which has previously resulted in numerous specials that have aired on Cartoon Network.

The latest special joins Rey, the main character in the recent Star Wars live-action trilogy, as she leaves her friends to go on a new adventure with droid BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force.

At a mysterious Jedi Temple, she is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history, coming into contact with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine Skywalker saga films.

It is directed by Ken Cunningham and written by David Shayne, who is also co-executive producer. James Waugh, Josh Rimes, Jason Cosler, Jacqui Lopez, Jill Wilfert and Keith Malone exec produce.
