Discovery exec takes to Tr3s

Viacom International Media Networks has appointed a new programming and production chief from Discovery Networks Latin America for its US Hispanic channel Tr3s.

Maria Badillo is joining as VP of programming and production to lead the network’s original production across all platforms.

She was previously director of programming and acquisitions for Discovery Lat Am and US Hispanic and prior to that senior VP of programming and production at US Spanish-language kids’ channel ¡Sorpesa!

Music-focused Tr3s has made a big push into original production in the last 12 months and is preparing a new primetime slot for commissioned shows. The network greenlit a slate of  productions earlier this year, including reality show Amigas Inc, executive produced by Jennifer Lopez.

Fernando Gaston,  brand manager for Tr3s, said: “As we launch our new primetime slot, this is the perfect moment for Maria to take the reins.”
