Discovery Networks Asia Pacific is coproducing a new Bear Grylls adventure series to air on Dragon TV in China.

Survivor Games (12×90’) makes eight celebrities battle to survive 12 days in the wild, tackling all that the jungle and Grylls can throw at them.

The series is being produced by Discovery-owned UK prodco Betty, Bear Grylls Ventures and DocuChina, the production arm of China’s Shanghai Media Group. The format comes from another Shanghai subsidiary, Yunji Media, and Discovery Studios will distribute the show internationally.

It will air across China on Dragon TV fronted by Grylls and co-presenter Jiang Changjian, a professor at the FuDan University and TV personality.

Grylls will also executive produce the series along with Delbert Shoopman from Bear Grylls Ventures, Tom Sheahan from Betty and Vikram Channa from Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific.

Grylls is known for his survivalist TV formats including Running Wild, which airs on NBC in the US; The Island, which started on Channel 4 in the UK; and Mission Survive, which was recently picked up by Discovery to air in China.
