Discovery doc fights Nazi lies

US factual giant Discovery has picked up broadcast rights to Second World War feature doc Who Will Write Our History and is prepping it for a January premiere.

The feature documentary profiles a secret band of journalists, scholars and community leaders in Poland, codenamed Oyneg Shabes, who decided to fight back against Nazi lies and propaganda with paper and pen during the Second World War.

The project, from director Roberta Grossman, will premiere on Discovery Channel in the US and select territories around the world in January.

Distributor Abramorama is shopping the doc internationally.

Nancy Daniels, chief brand officer Discovery and factual, added: “Who Will Write Our History reminds us all how important all voices are needed to find the truth. And while World War II was nearly 75 years ago, today these stories emphasise how imperative it is for journalists and writers to record and unpack the issues they are observing.”

The doc got a global theatrical release of 355 screens in 55 countries on International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2019. It also aired on Facebook Live.
