Discovery and Hit ink co-production deal

MIPCOM NEWS – Discovery Networks International and Hit Wildlife, the natural history division of Hit Entertainment, have inked a three-year co-production deal for 10 hour-long blue-chip natural history programmes.

DNI is planning to air the productions worldwide on either Discovery Channel or Animal Planet and will have first right to negotiate with its networks in the US.

In other news, DNI’s Programme Sales Division has also inked deals with broadcasters in six different countries for Animal Planet-branded programming blocks featuring The Crocodile Hunter and The Crocodile Hunter’s Croc Files.

Broadcasters involved in the deal include Kanal 5 (Sweden), TV Norge (Norway), FETV (Panama), Radio Caracas TV (Venezuela), Mediacorp TV12 (Singapore) and TV3 (Malaysia).

The Crocodile Hunter series revolves around the adventures of Steve Irwin in his quest to protect and understand crocs. The Crocodile Hunter’s Croc Files, again featuring Irwin, is targeted at a younger audience.
