DigiTurk to carry History in HD

America: The Story of US

A+E Networks is increasing carriage of its History channel in Turkey by launching an HD version on DigiTurk, and the two companies have also done a deal for VoD content.

The HD network will join the standard-definition version of History, which launched on the DigiTurk platform in 2002.

The two channels will continue to bring A+E franchises such as Pawn Stars and American Pickers to a Turkish audience along with blue-chip specials like America: The Story of US.

The agreement also makes several hours of History programming available to DigiTurk for its VoD platform, as well as 3D content.

Turkey has become a key battleground for the leading global factual players, with National Geographic and Discovery both launching 3D programming blocks there in the past six months.

Discovery significantly increased the carriage of its channels in the territory with a number of deals signed in February.
