DHX goes Up in the Air in Cannes

Comedy Bajillionaires follows a group of fledgling entrepreneurs

DHX Media in Canada is heading to MipTV next month with a tweens’ gymnastics series from the creator of The Next Step that has been picked up by CBBC in the UK.

Recently greenlit by DHX Television’s Family Channel in Canada, Up in the Air (15×22′) comes from producer Frank van Keeken, creator of The Next Step and Lost & Found Music Studios.

Produced by van Keeken’s Beachwood Canyon Productions in association with Family Channel, Up in the Air centres on a 12-year-old struggling to follow in the footsteps of her mother and grandfather by becoming a competitive gymnast on the world stage. Set to begin filming in spring 2019, it will also air on CBBC in the UK.

Also on DHX Media’s MipTV slate is Bajillionaires (fka Greenfields, 20×22′), a live-action kids’ comedy that follows the exploits of a group of fledgling entrepreneurs running a tech start-up out of one of their parents’ garages.

The series is produced by Six Eleven Media in association with Family Channel and is set to premiere this fall in the US on Universal Kids, NBCUniversal Entertainment & Lifestyle Group’s network for kids aged 2-12.

It will also be shopping CGI-animated Rev & Roll (52×11′), in which it co-invested with China’s Alpha Group, one of the world’s largest developers of animation and toys.

Set to premiere this autumn, the series was co-commissioned by DHX Television’s Family Jr in Canada and Alpha Group’s Jiajia channel in China.
